What I’ve Been Reading | Summer 2021

Hello, book lovers! 💕

Hi! Hello! I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve posted anything on here. And I’m really sorry about that. But I appreciate everyone who has stayed around, and any of the new followers I’ve gained in the past couple months.

Today I’m going to discuss what I’ve been up to and what books I’ve been reading since the last time I posted. Which was back at the end of May. And now it’s almost August.

Anyway, without any further ado, let’s get onto today’s discussion!

So if you’ve been here for a while, you may know that I started a new job at the end of May. And with that came almost no time to do a lot of things since I was always tired when I’d get home from work. So I decided to take a break from blogging because I didn’t know how to fit it into my schedule.

And I still don’t really. But I had the urge to write, and what better way to do that then write about something I love. Reading. And the books that I’ve been reading. And my plans going forward for this blog.

I still want to keep blogging. It’s something that I absolutely love doing. It’s just a matter of finding the time. And now that I’ve been working for a couple of months, I can kind of see when it’d be a good time to sit down to write (I’m actually writing this on my lunch break). Like reading, I need to find pockets of time throughout the day to write.

I’m not sure how consistent I’ll be with this (it might honestly be whenever inspiration hits), but it’s a step in the right direction at least.

Okay so that’s out of the way. Let’s get onto the books that I’ve been reading over the last couple months since I haven’t done a proper TBR or Wrap Up in a while.

I’m going to start this section saying it’s been taking me a lot longer to get through books lately now that I’ve been working a full time job. I mean, it already took me a while to get through books, but now it’s even longer.

Like Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert. It took me over a month to get through. And it’s a romance! But it has nothing to do with me not liking the book because I really enjoyed it. I just never had much time to sit down and read it.

So at one point, I was reading a bunch of graphic novels and comics because they’re pretty easy to get through. I picked up the next couple volumes of Lumberjanes by Noelle Stevenson (I think I’m on volume 9 now, so I’ve read maybe 3 of them in the last couple months).

I also picked up the Heartstopper graphic novel series by Alice Oseman. I actually picked it up on a whim; I didn’t really know anything about it, but ended up really loving it. I think I came across it when I was watching a BookTube video, and I’m always looking to get into new graphic novel series. I don’t know what it is about them; it’s such a fun reading experience.

But I definitely plan on getting to the next volume in this series as soon as possible. Because it’s just so freaking cute!

Another way I was able to squeeze in some reading was by listening to audiobooks. I could spend an entire weekend listening to one while playing video games or drawing. That’s how I got through the last two Harry Potter books.

So there you have it. Those were some of the books that I’ve read lately. I mean, that’s not too bad considering the fact that I’ve been working so much these last couple months.

What have you been reading lately? Have you read any of these books? I’d love to chat about them in the comments below!

I am a twenty-something-year-old who is an avid reader. I love anything from young adult fantasy to adult fiction to young adult contemporary. I also love to play video games and draw and watch movies and TV shows. And this is my safe space where I can gush about everything I love.
