Top Adult Romance Books 2021

Hello, book lovers! 💕

Now that it’s practically summer, all I’ve been wanting to read is romance books. I don’t know what it is about the warmer weather that makes me want to read fun, lighthearted books, but that’s typically what I gravitate towards.

Today, I’m going to talk about the top adult romance books that I’ve read. These aren’t going to be in any particular order; they’re all really good and ones that I’d recommend reading if you’re trying to get into adult romance (a genre that I’m still navigating into).

I’m not going to go into too much detail with my thoughts on any of these books, but I have reviews for most of the books that I’m about to mention. I’ll link back to those if you’re interested in knowing more of my thoughts (other than the fact that I absolutely loved these books).

So without any further ado, let’s get onto my top adult romance books!

The Dating Plan by Sarah Desai

This is a book that I recently finished, and I absolutely adored (I’m going to say that a lot with these books, so beware). This story is basically a fake dating situation, which is something that I’ve been enjoying in romance books lately. But the main thing that I loved about this book was the fact that the main character was a big nerd and really quirky. There were so many references to the Marvel movies, which was a lot of fun.

The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon

It’s been almost a year since I read this book, but it’s still one that I think about every so often. Especially because of the fact that the beginning had such a strong hook (a video of a horrific date the main character went on went viral on Twitter). Plus, the main character is extremely successful, which is inspiring as a woman reading about women being successful in a field that the main character is in (app development and computer science).

Beach Read by Emily Henry

This is another book that I read last year and really enjoyed. The main thing that I loved about this book was that it followed writers, and as I said in my review, it inspired me to write again, though I still haven’t finished my novel that I’m working on. Either way, this was a fun romance between two writers trying to conquer writers block.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

I recently read this book, and it’s one that I absolutely adored. So much so that I’m in the middle of reading the second book about Chloe’s sister, Dani. Talia Hibbert’s writing is so easy to read and fall into. I fell in love with the characters almost immediately. Especially their banter. They started out hating each other in the beginning, but that slowly turned into a romance. I’m always a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers type romance.

Well Met by Jen Bennett

This is another book that I read a while ago (almost two years ago), but I still think about every so often. I feel like it took place in such an interesting setting: the renaissance fair. And I think that’s why it stuck with me. Personally, I’ve never been to a renaissance fair, but reading about it was so interesting with how everyone had to stay in character and dress up in clothes from the renaissance era, and it almost made me want to go to one. It was just a lot of fun to read, and I’ve already picked up the second book in the companion series, Well Played. And I’ll definitely be picking up the next one, Well Matched, when it comes out in October.

The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler

I read this book this past winter around Christmas time, and again, it’s one that I absolutely loved. While I originally picked it up thinking there’d be some kind of Christmas themes in it, I wasn’t disapointed to find out that there weren’t any at all. It was such a witty and entertaining book, and I think what I loved the most about it is were the laugh-out-loud moments that happened throughout the story. I love some good dialogue between characters in a book, and this one was top-notch.

So there you have it. These are my top adult romance books that I’ve read recently. I’m still pretty new in the genre, so I know that there are plenty more books that I need to get to, but these are my favorites so far.

Have you read any of the books that I mentioned? Do you have any recommendations for adult romance books that I should read? I’d love to chat about them in the comments below!
