Rainy Day Book Recommendations

Hello, book lovers! 💕

It’s been raining a lot lately where I live, and those kinds of days are perfect to curl up in a blanket and read a good book. Which is something that I like to do as often as I can (whenever I’m in the mood to read, that is).

But there is a certain type of book that I like to read when it’s gloomy outside. And usually that is a cozy book, something atmospheric and that will take me to a different world. In most cases that is a fantasy book. Or even rereading a favorite book.

So today I’m going to give a few recommendations on what to read on those rainy, gloomy days where all you want to do is lay in bed with a good book.

The first book (or in this case series) that I’m going to mention is Harry Potter and that’s probably only because I’m in the middle of rereading the series. I know there is a lot of controversy surrounding the series and the author, but as I’ve mentioned many times previously, this series is one that is near and dear to me. I grew up reading the books and watching the movies, so it brings me so much nostalgia whenever I read it. Which is why I think it’s a pretty good book series to read when it’s rainy.

The next books are also in a series, and that is The Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire. Not only are these books short so you’ll be able to get through them in one or two sittings, but they’re also a lot of fun. They all deal take place at a boarding school for children who have gone through a portal to another fantastical world. It reminds me a lot of The Chronicles of Narnia but what happens when the children return to reality. But at the same time, each book is its own story and they’re not all directly connected since they follow different children in each one.

While the books by Becky Albertalli aren’t fantasy, they give me warm fuzzy feelings every time that I read any one of them. The one I’d recommend though would have to be Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda. It’s been around for a while, and I’m sure a lot of people have already read it, but it’s one that I absolutely adore. I remember the first time that I read it my heart just exploded with happiness when I finished reading it. And that’s the type of book that I would want to read while it’s raining because it would make me forget that it’s a gloomy day when something so happy exists.

The last book I’m going to recommend is The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell. Again this has been around for a while, but it’s a book series that is very atmospheric. There’s time traveling and heists and magic that is almost extinct. There are so many twists and turns that you can’t help but want to keep reading.

This is actually a series that I haven’t finished yet, but that’s because the series isn’t done yet. I read the first two books and haven’t gotten around to the third book that just came out last month.

So there you have it. Those are a few books that I would recommend reading while it’s rainy and gloomy outside. What books would you read while it rains? Have you read any of these books that I mentioned? I’d love to chat about them in the comments below!
