The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler | Book Review

Hello, book lovers! ๐Ÿ’•

The following is from Goodreads:

When Graham Barnett named his diner The Tourist Trap, he meant it as a joke. Now he’s stuck slinging reindeer dogs to an endless parade of resort visitors who couldn’t interest him less. Not even the sweet, enthusiastic tourist in the corner who blushes every time he looks her way…

Two weeks in Alaska isn’t just the top item on Zoey Caldwell’s bucket list. It’s the whole bucket. One look at the mountain town of Moose Springs and she’s smitten. But when an act of kindness brings Zoey into Graham’s world, she may just find there’s more to the grumpy local than meets the eye…and more to love in Moose Springs than just the Alaskan wilderness.

My Thoughts:

What isn’t to love about a fun, lighthearted rom-com? I picked this book up on a whim in December because I was looking for a good holiday book to read, and I had been seeing Sarah Morgenthaler’s second book in this series, Misteltoe & Mr. Right floating around. So I decided to read the first book, which I wasn’t sure was entirely necessary to read the second book, but I’m so glad that I did.

I want to start off by saying that this book doesn’t have any holiday or Christmas themes in it, which was part of the reason I picked it up. That wasn’t a huge disappointment for me because I wound up really enjoying this book in the end. I do know that the second book is set around Christmas time (and I’ll most likely be picking it up at the end of this year).

This book was a lot of fun. Like, there were some laugh-out-loud moments for me, which hasn’t happened in a while when reading a book. I think what made it that way were the characters and how witty and sassy they were. It made for some interesting dialogue and banter that’s always a good time if you ask me.

Me when Graham talks to Jake like he’s his child.

Graham may seem a little rough around the edges considering how much he hates tourists coming to his hometown, but he is such a big softy, especially when it comes to his dog Jake. The shear love that he has for Jake, and the fact that he dresses him up in outfits, just took my heart and melted it.

Me when I read that chainsaw scene.

I loved the shenanigans that Zoey got herself into with all of the touristy things that she was doing while she was staying in Moose Springs. Like, for instance, she went hiking on a trail, but got lost in the woods and pretty much wound up in Graham’s backyard. He was working on a wood carving, so he had his chainsaw going and a welding mask on his face. So yeah, you get the idea of how that ended.

Overall, I just had a lot of fun while reading this. It was such a lighthearted read that I needed at the time with everything going on in the world and in my life. And I’d absolutely recommend picking it up if you haven’t already. I will be picking up the next book in the series at some point this year because I really enjoyed Sarah Morgenthaler’s writing.

So there you have it. Those were my thoughts on The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler. Have you read this book? What did you think about it? Or do you plan on reading it? I’d love to chat in the comments below!

      1. I definitely want to read the next one! Though Iโ€™m kind of thinking about holding off on it until itโ€™s closer to Christmas (even though I know it just passed). ๐Ÿ™ˆ

  1. Great review! I really enjoyed this one. That scene with Zoey stumbling out of the woods to see Graham in Chainsaw Massacre gear was absolutely hilarious! So many funny moments between these two. I adored their love story ๐Ÿฅฐ
