Hello, book lovers! 💕
Welp, it’s officially 2021. That means I need to wrap up December and finally put 2020 behind me. I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday, and here’s to a more positive 2021.
For the most part, I’d say that it was a pretty good reading month. While I didn’t read as many holiday books as I had wanted (I made up for that by watching a bunch of holiday movies), I did read a decent amount. In total, I read 7 books, even though a majority of those were comics.
So without further ado, let’s get onto the books that I read in December!

The first book that I finished in December I had actually started in November. And that book was Chasing Lucky by Jenn Bennett. I picked it up right after it was released in November, and I took my time reading it because I absolutely love Jenn Bennett’s books. I wanted to savor every moment of it. And I did really end up enjoying it. I have a review of it up on my blog if you’re interested in knowing more of my thoughts.
While I was reading Chasing Lucky, I also picked up the next few Avatar comics. I think I spent a day binge-reading 2 or 3 of them. But I read 4 volumes throughout the entire month. Which is where the bulk of my reading was, Unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish the series by the end of 2020, but it is my goal of 2021 to finish it (I’ve got 2 comics left in the series, so I think it’s doable).
I also noticed that the art style changed from North and South to Imbalance, and I wasn’t really feeling it. I know it’s the same characters, but it doesn’t feel like same as the earlier comics. Those felt like it was directly from the tv show, but the art style in the last few feels separate almost.

After I finished those comics, I picked up Well Played by Jenn DeLuca. I have a review for this one as well, but for the most part, I enjoyed it. I identified with the main character, Stacey, pretty well. But the cat fishing aspect of the story lasted way too long and was too much of the story. Other than that, it was pretty good.

The last book I finished of the year was In A Holidaze by Christina Lauren. I listened to this on audiobook, and I flew through it. I think I listened to it in maybe 2 sittings. I really enjoyed it, though it wasn’t really what I was expecting (there were some things that happened that kind of took me by surprise, though it was in the synopsis). That’s not a bad thing.. It was still a fun holiday read. Everything just seemed to wrap up a little too nicely at the end. But then again, it’s supposed to be a fun holiday book, so that’s to be expected.

I’m still in the middle of The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler, and I probably could have finished it before the end of the year. But I’ve had a lot going on in my life in the last week or so, and reading hasn’t been my first priority. Though I do plan on finishing it early on in the new year (it’ll most likely be my first read of 2021).
But from what I’ve read so far, I’m really enjoying it. It’s a lot of fun and exactly what I need right now in a book.
So there you have it. Those are the books that I had read in December, and the book that I’m currently reading as we start the new year. I’m really hoping that this year is better than 2020, not just for me, but for everyone. Have you read any of these books that I mentioned? What were your thoughts on them? I’d love to chat in the comments below!
