Hello, book lovers! 💕
I’m back with another Author Appreciation post, where I spend some time gushing over my favorite authors. I want to give some attention to authors who I love that might not be getting the attention they deserve. Their books make me so happy, and I can’t help but gush over them. And Jenn Bennett is no exception.
The reason I wanted to write this post was because I’m currently reading Chasing Lucky that was recently released last month. And reading it made me realize how much I love Jenn Bennett’s books.
The first book that introduced me to Jenn Bennett was Alex, Approximately. I read it back in 2017 right after it was released, and I remember devouring it. I’m not sure where I heard about it in the first place, but it was probably on BookTube (I feel like I find a lot of books and authors on there).
The concept of Alex, Approximately was that the main characters were talking, but they don’t know who the other one is. So the entire story is them essentially trying to figure out the other’s identity. Which I’m a sucker for. And this wasn’t even her first book!
After reading that book, I wanted to read her other books. Though it wasn’t until 2018 that I picked up another one of her books. And that one was Starry Eyes, which I listened to on audiobook and remember enjoying for the most part. It had a camping trip that went south. This one has an enemies-to-lovers scenario, which is always a good time.
Right after that, I read The Anatomical Shape of a Heart, which again, I remember enjoying for the most part. This was her first YA contemporary since her previous books that she had published were historical romance or fantasy. But it was definitely unique and interesting considering the main character wanted to draw cadavers. Which would have anyone intrigued to pick it up.
The last book before her most recent release that I read by Jenn Bennett was Serious Moonlight. Which was also really good. The leading sentence from the synopsis on Goodreads is:
After an awkward first encounter, Birdie and Daniel are forced to work together in a Seattle hotel where a famous author leads a mysterious and secluded life…

Just reading that sentence alone had me hooked and knowing that I liked a majority of Jenn Bennett’s books, I had to pick it up. And honestly, I think I’m at the point where I’ll pretty much read any of her books that she publishes in the future. They’re all so unique and cute and a lot of fun.
Jenn Bennett is one of my favorite YA contemporary authors, and I’ve really enjoyed her books that she has published, at least the ones I have read so far. I feel like more people should read her books because not only are they cute and a lot of fun, but they also deal with topics that teens and anyone could relate to. There’s family issues and internal struggles with the main characters. On top of really cute romances that the reader wants to root for.
