Books to Read September | 2020

Hello, book lovers! 💕

How is it September already? Seriously, where did the year go? Then again, I’ve been saying this every month this year. I’m shocked at how fast this year is flying by.

This month I didn’t have much of a plan in terms of the books that I chose to add to this list. I want to say that they’re books that will probably give me fall vibes, meaning they’re atmospheric and whimsical. But I’m not sure if all of them are. Honestly, these are just books that I knew I would be in the mood to read. Though, this list might change depending on what I feel in the moment. I might also add more to this list as the month goes on considering I only put 5-6 books on.

So anyway, onto the TBR!

Ever since I finished The Rise of Kyoshi by F.C. Yee last month, I’ve been wanting to start the next book in the duology, The Shadow of Kyoshi. So of course I had to include it on this list. It’s no secret that I’ve been loving everything that has to do with the Avatar TV show lately, so are you really surprised that I’d include this?

Or even the next two books on the list? I’m definitely planning on continuing the Avatar comics this month as well. I’m absolutely loving seeing what the characters from the main TV show are up to in the comics. Plus, they’re such fun and quick reads that I know I can fly through them and most likely a few others in the series too.

The next book I have on my list is one that I didn’t know existed until I did the Author Appreciation post a couple weeks back. And I immediately thought it would be perfect to read in the fall. So now that it’s September, I can read it. I don’t know anything about it other than there’s ghost stories about the town, and the main character gets caught up in one. Which sounds pretty good to me.

And to be honest, I really enjoyed Francesca Zappia’s previous books, so I feel like I’m going to enjoy Now Entering Addamsville one as well.

I also have another sequel on the list. Back in July I read the first in The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, and I really enjoyed it. I knew that I needed to continue on in the series as soon as possible so I definitely want to try to read The Dream Thieves this month. And it’s the type of fantasy that is perfect for September. It’s that atmospheric type of book that I’m always looking to read around this time of year. Plus, I’m really excited to see where these characters end up in the next book.

The final book that I have on my list is one I got from my Book of the Month subscription last month. I haven’t read anything by this author, but I’m curious to read The Vanishing Half because it has some really good reviews on Goodreads. And when I read the synopsis, the book sounded really good too. It seems to be a story about twin sisters and how they deal with identity: not only with being twins but also with being black in the south. I really want to diversify my reading, and I’m definitely looking forward to picking this one up.

So there you have it. Those are the books that I plan on reading this month. Again, I don’t hold myself to reading all of these, but from where I stand with the list now, I definitely want to try to get to them all this month. It could change though. I might add other books as well if I’m in the mood for something else or I happen to finish all of these.

Have you read any of these books or plan on reading them? I’d love to discuss them in the comments below!

  1. Ooh, I totally for about ‘Now Entering Adamsville’! I think I added that to my TBR ages ago but I forgot about it. I also hope I can get to The Vanishing Half soon coz I’ve heard so many good things about it! Hope you enjoy these books 🙂 Happy reading!
