Animal Crossing: New Horizons Book Tag

Hello, book lovers! 💕

I found this book tag last night on Alice’s Book Blog, but it was created by Two Book Thieves. I absolutely had to do it. It is perfect considering how much I’ve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Like, I think I put over 200 hours into the game since I got it a month ago. The fact that it’s book-related is just brilliant. If you’ve been addicted to Animal Crossing like I have, then I tag you to do this!

Past Villager – Who is a character you found when you were younger that still has a place in your heart?

Probably pretty obvious to say Harry Potter. So I’m going to say Bella Swan from Twilight since that series is what got me into reading YA fiction when I was in high school.

Blather’s Blatherings – Recommend a historical fiction book that you think everybody should read

I don’t read many historical fiction books, but I’d have to go with The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. I’ve always been interested in WWII and the Holocaust, and this one didn’t sugar coat anything.

Celeste’s Wish – What is a future book release you wish you could read now?

I really want Jenn Bennett’s new book, Chasing Lucky, to come out already! It was originally supposed to be published in May, but with everything that has been going on in the world, now Goodreads tells me that the publication date isn’t until November, which makes me really sad.

Timmy & Tommy – What is your favourite sibling relationship in a book?

The sibling relationship in The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli is probably one that I find the most realistic. Molly and Cassie aren’t inseparable 24/7. They fight and argue like siblings typically do, but also have their moments where they’re close and do things together. It depicts how, in most cases, siblings who might have been like best friends as young kids drift apart when the other gets in a romantic relationship.

The Easter Bunny – A popular book character that you’re not a big fan of

I like the jab at the Bunny Day event that literally enveloped everyone in an ungodly amount of unwanted Easter eggs. But for this, I’d have to go with Alex from Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. I don’t remember much about this book, other than the fact that I felt pretty meh about it when I finished reading it, or well listening to it, since I listened to the audiobook.

Nook’s Loans – An author you’d give all your money to

Hands down, Becky Albertalli. I have loved all of her books that she published. Either her, or Morgan Matson. They’re both auto buy authors for me.

The Sisters Able – What is your favourite fictional family (found or otherwise)?

Save the Date by Morgan Matson. I really enjoyed the family dynamics in this one, considering it revolved around Charlie’s older brother getting married, and there being five siblings all together. They all had some fun banter amongst each other.

It’s a C+  – What is a book trope you don’t like that keeps popping up?

Probably love triangles, though I can’t think of any books where I’ve seen this trope lately. I just know I can’t stand them and tend to avoid it if it’s in the synopsis of a book.

The Wandering Camel – What is your favourite book set in a land far away from yours?

I’d probably have to go with Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas.

What Would Dodos Do?  – A fictional land you wish you could fly away to at any moment?

There are probably so many that I could say, but I’m going to stick with Hogwarts, since I’m in the middle of my reread for the series.

So there you have it. Have you been as obsessed with Animal Crossing as I have? What are some of your favorite villagers that you have on your island? I’d love to discuss it in the comments below!

Also I want to thank the original creators of this tag for bringing Animal Crossing and books together and coming up with it. I’m not going to tag anyone in particular, but if you want to do this tag, consider yourself tagged.

I am a twenty-something-year-old who is an avid reader. I love anything from young adult fantasy to adult fiction to young adult contemporary. I also love to play video games and draw and watch movies and TV shows. And this is my safe space where I can gush about everything I love.

  1. Great post! I’m glad you wanted to do the tag as well. Animal Crossing is slowly taking over my life! It sucks that loads of books are being pushed back until later in the year. I was really looking forward to Bookish and the Beast in June but its been pushed back a couple months. I wouldn’t mind being quarantined in Hogwarts, at least we could play Quidditch!

    1. I knew I had to do the tag once I saw your post. It was too perfect not to. And I agree. Quarantined at Hogwarts would be awesome. Just the library alone would be a great place to get some decent reading done.
